Hello! Blackdog was set up by me, Julie Jones. I have worked in a whole range of mental health and health and social care settings for over 20 years. I have managed a host of innovative projects and services that have looked to support vulnerable people and improve mental health and wellbeing.
I am trained at post-graduate level in mental health and trained to support people using a range of interventions including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and I am currently studying to become a clinical hypnotherapist. I am also a qualified and experienced trainer with full DBS.
Why choose me? I set up Blackdog as I am incredibly passionate about promoting people’s awareness and understanding of mental health, helping people understand that we all have mental health and that we all need to look after our mental health and wellbeing. Mental health is about much more than medication. For me, it is about the whole person, their community and society. I look to improve mental health and wellbeing through relevant and thought-provoking training, improving workplace practices and supporting people to take care of their wellbeing. This will take account of the latest and most innovative thinking relevant to mental health and wellbeing. My services will also reflect Welsh Government and UK policy relevant to your work setting.
Where does the term ‘Blackdog’ come from? Blackdog was a term used by Winston Churchill to describe his depression and is a term often associated with this illness. However, Blackdog specialises in a broad range of mental health issues.
Although I specialise in training, consultancy and mindfulness – if there’s something around mental health you need help with that’s not listed here, do get in touch!
