Clinical Hypnotherapy is about supporting the person to be in a state of mind that helps them to make positive life changes and get to where they want to be.
We naturally go into this daydreaming like state many times a day without even noticing! It is nothing like stage hypnosis. This is where people who are highly suggestible are sought out for entertainment purposes. In therapy you are completely in control and empowered.
Hypnotherapy is a bit like mindfulness with intent. I practice Solution Focused Hypnotherapy which uses goal focused techniques that work seamlessly together. This approach supports people to get to where they want to be in a relatively short space of time compared to some forms of therapy.
Prices: Therapy sessions are £50 and last about an hour. I offer reduced rates to people receiving benefits/low-income/students. The initial consultation (i.e. to find out more and to discuss if I think I can help you – is free).
How many sessions will you need? That varies entirely depending on each person and the issues they would like support with. It is entirely up to YOU to decide when you think you are ready to end therapy. An average is around 8 sessions. Smoking is just ONE session.
What kinds of things can Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy treat?
Hypnotherapy has a growing body of evidence as to it’s effectiveness.
It can treat a number of things! Like anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, smoking cessation, addictions,weight management, pain management and improving general wellbeing.
The important thing to remember is that it is person-led. It is about looking at what you want to achieve and being directed by you.
Mindfulness is about promoting a deeper awareness of the present moment and training the mind in being more engaged in the here and now.
There is a huge amount of evidence showing that Mindfulness can improve a range of physical and mental health issues.
I am trained to deliver Mindfulness to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is one of the most practiced and well-respected forms of psychotherapy and has a strong body of evidence to support it’s effectiveness. It is about recognising the links between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours in order to find helpful solutions to life’s difficulties and emotional problems.
I am not a CBT practitioner in my own right but trained to incorporate it’s practices having studied it as part of my postgraduate studies.
My Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions are led by Solution-Focused practice and complemented by CBT and Mindfulness techniques. All sessions are person-centred.
